A Q+A With the CareerKnacks Family – volume 2

Growing the CareerKnacks Family is among our greatest accomplishments here at CareerKnacks and we take great care to ensure that all of the nurses (and their families!) are taken care of every step of the hiring and moving process. We decided to share a little bit of information about some of the nurses we have added to the CareerKnacks Family to give you a little glimpse behind the curtain.

  1. What is your nursing specialty?
I am a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse.
  2. Tell us about your interview process with both CareerKnacks and the hospital?
With this position, I didn’t have an interview with CareerKnacks as I’ve been with Lisa since 2010. The hospital interviews were great! I had a Skype interview by the International Talent Acquisition Team and a telephone interview by the Director of Nursing.
  3. How long have you been a nurse?
I’ve been a nurse for 24 years, with 11 of those years as a PACU nurse.
  4. In what countries have you practiced nursing?
In the Philippines and the United Kingdom.
  5. Why did you want to move to America to further your nursing career?
It’s always been my dream to work in America. The different advancement now in technology attracted me more to further my nursing career in America. And I believe that I could also develop further my professional skills by attending classes/courses and trainings offered by the hospital.

With any international move, comes plenty of questions. So when it comes time to consider your move to the United States, we do our very best to ensure that you are prepared. What is the language like? Is it easy to transition to American customs? Will I be able to drive there? The ability to connect with others who have done the move before you is the best way to settle your nerves and arrive in your new home town as prepared as possible.

We decided to set up an exclusive CareerKnacks Nurses Facebook Group where all of our nurses can connect and share information, give advice, and just build a community. You may even find other nurses that are located in the same town, at the same hospital that you will be going to. Built-in friends!

We will also be adding frequently-asked-question guides, area information, resources, and more to support you with your big move to America. And, as always we are always here to answer any questions that you might have. So don’t hesitate to contact us directly!
