The top occupational health concern of nurses is back injury. A survey done in 2011 shows that 59% of nurses are afraid they might have this.
The famous poet and essayist Walt Whitman served as a volunteer nurse during the Civil War in Fredericksburg, Virginia. His poem entitled “The Wound Dresser” got its theme from his nursing experience in the battlefield.
17th century shipwreck survivor Juan de Mena is considered the first nurse in the New World.
Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of Abraham Lincoln, was a volunteer nurse during the American Civil War
In order to give recognition to school nurses, January 27 is now celebrated as the National School Nurse Day.
The first Nursing school was established in India in 250 BC.

What the Rising Nurse Shortage Means for International Nurses

The US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of RNs will grow 16% from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for other occupations. Since the education system for nurses is unable to keep up with the pace of the growing demand, the opportunities for international nurses continues to rise. Eat and Sleep Right – Your physical state is just as important as your mental one when preparing for a life-changing test. In the weeks leading up to your exam date, maintain a healthy diet and sleep routine. This will actually work towards keeping your mind sharp and retaining information better, especially if you add bananas and some chocolate to your diet.

With the reality of a Donald Trump Presidency sinking in, many foreign nationals are understandably wondering how the election results will impact their status and future in the U.S.

Both those on the Left and the Right have expressed difficulty in determining Trump’s stance on immigration, and much of his pre-election rhetoric has focused on illegal immigration. That said, Trump has referenced some potential changes that could affect business immigration, namely making E-Verify mandatory, reforming the H-1B visa system, repealing President Obama’s Executive Orders (DACA/ DAPA), and renegotiating or withdrawing from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). USCIS Announces Fee Increases For 2017

Earlier this week a final ruling was made on the proposed fee increases for USCIS, the first increase in more than six years. Since the USCIS is funded almost entirely by these fees from those seeking immigration benefits, this is something that unfortunately has to happen every few years.
